ABOUT US

The “Save Deongwar State Forest” community group exists to raise awareness of the current intensive logging of Deongwar State Forest and highlight the adverse impacts it is having on the habitat, wildlife, biodiversity, natural and cultural heritage.
Our strong argument, and defence, for ending the logging is the documented need to preserve the large old habitat trees and their associated tree hollows which provide essential roosting, denning and breeding sites for all hollow dependant species, especially the endangered greater glider.
We seek to identify and utilise all available “lawful” means and opportunities to influence those who have the authority to end the logging of Deongwar State Forest so that it may transition into the conservation estate at the earliest opportunity.
By default “Save Deongwar State Forest” campaign also supports the broader campaign lead by the Queensland Conservation Council, and other non government organisations, to end the logging of native hardwood in Queensland's State Forest Estate and double the size of the protected area.
