WE ALL SAVED FERNY FOREST
Fantastic news............... another 130ha of remnant forest has been saved on the Queensland Sunshine Coast (in addition to the 744ha saved 6 years ago)!!
Tuesday 13th December 2022, the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries announced that "the proposed selective timber harvesting at Beerwah State Forest" (aka Ferny Forest) "will not be proceeding".
This follows over a year of intense campaigning by a dedicated core group and tens of thousands of people who signed petitions pushing back against this planned logging of remnant native vegetation.
There are so many people wanting to help save and protect our wildlife, that when everyone does just what they are good at and what they enjoy, we can achieve huge success!
THE PROBLEM WAS
Ferny Forest a 129ha old growth core koala habitat forest on the Sunshine Coast was to be logged
THE SOLUTION
​ SAVE Ferny Forest - Stop the Chop
PROTECT declare it - National Park Now
CONNECT build wildlife corridors (safe and effective overpasses and underpasses) and install wildlife fencing

*You signed the Change.org ongoing petition
*You used the iNaturalist app to record plants and animals when you found them in Ferny
