Through community effort the motorsports complex was successfully stopped in 2014.

However until this forest is a National Park this forest will continue to be under threat.

Sustainable Alternative Location for Motorsport Complex

This alternate site is considered a more suitable location for the facility, as rather than destroying native forest, it utilises the pine plantation that lies immediately south of the currently proposed site. It forms part of the same land parcel within Beerwah State forest, but doesn't contain large sections of native forest. Other benefits of the new design include:

  • Close to Steve Irwin Way and the Bruce Highway, but not right next to the Mooloolah Cemetery.

  • More area than the existing site.

  • Much of this area has recently been harvested, making it more suitable for landscaping and construction of such a facility.

  • Having been under pine plantation for a long time the environmental values of the site are low.

  • Undulating terrain, which means more hills for better motorcross.

  • Won't destroy the wetlands which help filter sediments from the Mooloolah River.

  • Further away from Mooloolah and Glenview residential areas.

If you want to check it out go down Old Caloundra Rd and then turn right onto Hapgood Rd - it is the area on the left.
