The community support for this campaign was huge and involved many different groups and individuals. The following page contains some of the public events.

When the community first heard of the LNP government's plan to destroy a larger section of this iconic forest for a road interchange, hundreds of people gathered in Jowarra Park to save the forest.

2014 film made to stop motocross facility being built in the forest

The community gathered again in 2014 to protect the forest from the road interchange and the newly added threat of a proposal for a motocross park (since withdrawn).
PASSIONATE environmentalists and local residents are unanimous in their stance to save the Steve Irwin Way Forest. Picture shows the girth of one of the forest's trees which will be lost under the current road interchange design. See full article here:

It was a well supported event with hundreds of people in attendance. Including all indigenous elders, all local political candidates, residents, business owners, a federal senator, musicians, food stalls, koala and other groups, all parties agreed the forest should be saved.
